Why my children love KinderVille Ice Pop Molds
Posted on April 25 2018
Do you know what is right around the corner? Believe it or not, it’s summer! And as much as we don’t want to think about frozen treats right now (because everything is still currently frozen outside), my boys have been asking to use these super fun Silicone Ice Pop Molds from KinderVille since I brought them into the store!
These molds are different than the other molds for a few reasons but my favourite is that they are made with 100% food-grade silicone - no BPA, BPS, PHT or lead, so no nasty plastics are infiltrating your yummy popsicles! I also love that they are more like a push pop instead of a popsicle, so no juice drips down the stick, AND they are designed to allow the residual liquid to go back into the mold, therefore eliminating little sticky hands. Win-Win. Although let’s be real, kiddles tend to find a way to make a mess even with these handy products - but still, totally worth it.
I love making my own recipes for popsicles because I can control the sugar, and also hide some healthy ingredients in there! I found a really great recipe for super creamy avocado fudgesicles on Erin Wiebe’s (Naturopathic Doctor) blog that would be perfect for these molds. And they are chocolate… they might not even make it into the kid's hands.
6 pitted dates
¾ cup water, plus ½ cup
2 ripe avocados
½ cup cocoa powder
3 tbsp maple syrup
½ cup canned coconut milk
¼ tsp of salt
Soak dates in ¾ cup water while you get the other ingredients ready. You may need to soak longer if your blender isn’t super powerful like a VitaMix. Soaking them longer will ensure they are nice and soft and blend until smooth. Then blend with all the ingredients until smooth. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for 3-4 hours.
Once the pops have been devoured, you can throw the molds in the dishwasher!
